UNITED WE TRAIL-DIVIDED WE FAIL....
You get up. It's a beautiful Saturday morning and Mother Nature has blessed us with
an eight inch blanket of snow. A quick breakfast, a couple of calls to your trail
buddies and off you go to ride some of Wisconsin's finest trails! You head out; and
soon discover that the trail doesn't exist any more...what is going on???
Good snowmobile trails don't just happen. They have been created in this area by
hard working snowmobilers who worked with local landowners to secure leases which
allow snowmobilers to cross their land. This unique situation allows snowmobilers
access to private property at no cost! Very few, if any, forms of recreation can
benefit a fairly large group with no cost. We are very fortunate that such an
opportunity exists and hope that you feel the same way.
You have received this letter because you are, have been or hopefully will become a
part of organized snowmobiling. The Amery Snowmobile Club invites you to join our
club, or any of the other local clubs, to help insure trail access for years to
come. Clubs work to sign and maintain trails, update and negotiate new leases and
sponsor fundraising activities to benefit both the club and the local community. We
also teach snowmobile safety courses and host landowner appreciation get-togethers.
The Amery Club has held a vintage sled show and swap meet which is a growing event.
Benefits of club membership include a subscription to the Association of Wisconsin
Snowmobile Club's magazine which is published eight times per year, free $1,000 life
insurance and the opportunity to work with other snowmobilers to promote our sport
through various club activities.
Membership dues are $20.00. The Amery Club meets the first Thursday of the month at
Wolter's Shoreview in Amery, WI. In addition to the monthly meeting we have a Fall
trail signing/maintenance day and a Spring take down day. We need more volunteers
to help make our trails better and improve our ability to host special events like
the vintage show and swap meet.
We realize that snow is unpredictable and maybe it doesn't seem worth the effort to
work so hard on our local trails. Remember, we are one snowstorm away from the next
ride and there's nothing better than going out the back door, jumping on the sled
and riding off. The snow is beyond our control, but keeping our trail legacy alive
is entirely up to us. Please support organized snowmobiling by joining our club and
getting involved. Thank you and we hope to see you at our next meeting. If you
don't feel you can participate but still wish to support organized snowmobiling,
please submit your $20.00. If you want to be contacted to help out on special
projects, please sign YES on the lower right corner of your membership application
and we will put you on our call list.
Thanks in advance for your support from the officers of the Amery Club.
